Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II immunizing a baby at Busamuzi health center III
His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has today launched the campaign calling on men’s engagement in the fight against AIDS.
Kabaka made a call during the Buganda health day celebrations held at Buvuma Islands.
Ssaabasajja seeks to increase the engagement of men as new day changer in the AIDS response in our region eastern and southern Africa, the region most affected by AIDS.
The Kabaka is convinced that we will not get to the end of AIDS without the involvement of men and the youths who are seen as the decision makers in our homes.
“We hope to engage men at all levels to as change agents for gender equality and well-being so that the campaign on AIDS will be truly successful.
The UNAIDS named the Kabaka a goodwill ambassador to inspire other countries in the region and also to strengthen the traditional leaderships’ involvement in the health related issues as this will create awareness the threat AIDS pose to people.
UNAIDS awarded the Kabaka with a plaque for his continued advocacy for a good health of His people especially in Buganda Kingdom through establishing health camps and making partnerships with organization that have the aim of transforming the lives of people via the health section.

Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga used the occasion to advise the Kabaka’s subjects of Buvuma Island not to side with people who provide information that deliver them from being obedient to the Kingdom. He said” Buvuma Island is among the 18 counties that make up of Buganda Kingdom, you should not be driven away from truth by resource less information”
Kabaka’s minister for health Dr. Ben Kiwanuka Mukwaya appreciated the Kabaka for caring for his people so that they can leave a good health by establishing health camps at which people receive free medical treatment.
According to Dr. Ben Mukwaya, over one thousand seven hundred people were treatment and tested for HIV.
Kabaka performed several activities while at Buvuma that include;
Ssaabasajja Kabaka immunized three babies at Busamuzi health center III and other three at Buvuma health center IV. He named the three by the names of; Ssemakula, Matovu and Namubiru.
He also opened up Buvuma resort hotel owned by area member of parliament Robert Migadde.
Other distinguished guests present included; Buganda government ministers, Clan heads, members of parliament led by Buganda caucus chairman Nuyanja SSenyonga, Betty Nambooze among others.
