The Buganda government's newly established campaign of supplying coffee seedlings to potential farmers has been closed down till september.
The campaign was put in place to enable people get involved in planting coffee as a way of alleviating poverty.
Buweekula, Bulemeezi and Gomba have all benefited from the campaign in the first half of the year.
While closing down the campaign , Katikkiro urged the coffee farmers in Gomba to avoid reaping unripe coffee seeds so that to maintain the standard of Ugandan coffee at the world market.
He said, if they harvest unripe coffee, it's them who face the repacations therefore they should keep the standard of the required coffee that suits on the international market as this will enable them reap big from what they saw.
Buganda government state minister for agriculture, Hajji Amis Kakomo was happy to see that atleast they have supplied the seedlings to the wright farmers who are well prepared. He added that they have achieved 80% of their target as they sought to supply over five miliion seedlings in the first half of the campiagn, however due to uncertaintees, they managed to supply over three million coffee seedlings.
Among the farmers the Katikkiro inspected include; Wasswa Kyeyune, Mr. Fabian Ssevvume and Rt Reverend Canon Heziron Kiwanuka at Kasaka Gomba.
In the campaign Katikkiro was accompanied by, the 2nd deputy Katikkiro and minister for education Dr. Twaha Kigongo Kaawaase, state minister for finance Richard Mulema Mukasa, and the Kabaka's chiefs of Gomba County.
