Ekitiibwa ky'Amafumu n'engaboHonors
This is an award given by the King to individuals who have tremendously excelled in performing extra ordinary services to the Kingdom. The accolade was initiated by Ssekabaka Daudi Chwa who was greatly impressed by some of his officials who had enormously sacrificed their efforts to serve the Kingdom. The awardees of this accolade are called Omusukkulumu (one) and Abasukkulumu (many) literally translated as the excellent.
The pioneer awardees of this decoration included the following:
- Sir Apollo Kaggwa.
- Kulubya Sserwaano.
- Nsibirwa Martin Luther
Later in 1993 after the restoration of the Kingdom, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II awarded honors to Dr. Michael B. Nsimbi, Joseph P. Musoke, Hon. Baraki Kirya, Capt. Ronald Owen, Major Richard Carr-Gomm, Martin Flegg, Omutiibwa Cardinal Emmanuel Nsubuga, Prince Badiru Mbuga Kakungulu, Bishop Dr. Dustan Nsubuga, the late Major Joash Katende, late Capt. George Maalo, the late Rev. Polycarp Kakooza, Hon. Joyce Mpanga, the late Christopher Sebadduka and George Kakoma among others.
In 2009, Kabaka Mutebi again awarded the same honor to several people who fought in the 1966 crisis together with those who looked after the late Sir Edward Muteesa II while in exile. These included the following:
- Prince Kitayimbwa Kabumbuli Mumiransanafu
- Jjaaja Angerina Nabakooza.
- Dan Kaamanyi.
In November 2011, more people were awarded with honor of the Order of the Shield & the Spear for their services to the Kingdom in different circles. These included the following.
- John W. Katende.
- The Late Bishop Adrian Kivumbi Ddungu.
- Prof. William Ssenteza Kajubi.
- Prof. Livingstone Walusimbi.
- Earnest K.K. Ssempeebwa.
- Brigadier Shaban Opolot.
In 2017, the Kabaka again decollated more people with the similar award including a 9 year old pupil- Yvonne Nnamaganda who perished in a school inferno at Buddo Junior School while trying to save the lives of other pupils. Those decollated that year included the following.
