Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II donates 10 Acres of land to Uganda Boxing Federation

The Kabaka of Buganda, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, has donated 10 acres to the Uganda Boxing Federation in a bid to promote the game of boxing.

The land at Matugga, Gombe in Kyaddondo will be used to construct a mega boxing stadium; a training facility; a hospital and other boxing related facilities.

The development was revealed yesterday by the Katikkiro, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, while hosting the president of the International Boxing Federation, Umar Kremlev, at Bulange.  

He praised Moses Muhangi, the president of the Uganda Boxing Federation for reawakening the game of boxing, which he said pleased His Majesty, and he donated the piece of land.

He noted that boxing was a very popular game in Uganda but was disrupted by in fighting which Muhangi has resolved.

He assured the Kingdom that the partnership will yield big for both Buganda and Uganda.

The Minister for Youth; Sports, and Recreation, was represented by Owek. Noah Kiymba, the Minister for Lukiiko; Cabinet; Information. Protocol and as well the Kingdom’s Official Spokesperson.

He expressed gratitude over the outstanding relationship between the Kingdom and the boxing federation, under Moses Muhangi.

He noted that the Kingdom is endowed with vast and diverse youthful talents in various sports which he said requires a strategic planning framework to be harnessed and promoted via the Masaza; Bika and institutions of learning.

He thanked the federation for the cordial relationship and assured them that Kremlev’s visit has cemented it further.

The president, of the International Boxing Federation, Umar Kremlev, praised Africans for spearheading the promotion and development of boxing as a sport. He recalled that boxing started from Africa, naming examples of excellent boxing players including Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson, among others, as some of the great boxing players tracing their origin from Africa.

He called upon the government to put in place a conducive environment and at the same time better facilities to promote boxing and encouraging the players to play from home, instead of looking for greener pastures elsewhere.
Muhangi, the President of the Uganda Boxing Federation, said that they came to Bulange, to convey their appreciation to the Kabaka for the piece of land he donated to the federation.

He stressed that the development is going to uplift the area due to the various developments that are going to be set up, and called upon the populace to pave way for the work to start, because it’s coming in good faith.
