Ssabasajja Kabaka donates boats and motorcycles to his leadership on Buvuma Islands
Ssaabasajja Kabaka has donated motorboats and motorcycles to his
chiefs in Buvuma Islands, to help them reach out easily to the ordinary
people across the Islands. The donation is part of the celebrations to
mark 30 years of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II coronation anniversary,
slated for 31 July, 2023.
The donation was
delivered by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, to
the beneficiaries who had gathered at Kitamiiro in Buvuma.
While
delivering the boats and motorcycles, the Katikkiro stressed that its
very important for a leader to reach out to the people he serves, so
that he gets to know and understand what they go through and ascertain
their standards of living.
He said the boats
and motorcycles will be used to widen the campaign against AIDS, as the
leaders will easily reach out to the communities, preaching against the
spread of HIV and AIDS, with much emphasis on to the men to lead in
the struggle, to save the girl child.
He noted
that statistics have gone down since the Kabaka became the brand
Ambassador for the fight against HIV and AIDS in Africa.
Similarly,
the Kabaka has graciously given a motorcycle to Buvuma County
Agriculture Officer, to help him reach out to the farmers easily.
The
minister of state for Local Government, Oweek Joseph Kawuki expressed
gratitude to see that Buvuma has greatly improved in service delivery
under the current leadership.
Buvuma county
and district leadership thanked the Kabaka for the donation, which they
said is going to greatly improve their service delivery to the people.
