Buganda Youth Council honors Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga for his service to the Kingdom.

The youth in Buganda under their umbrella body, Buganda Youth Council led by their Chairman, Baker Ssejjengo, have honored the Katikkiro of Buganda, Oweek. Charles Peter Mayiga, for his services to the Kingdom for the last 32 years.  
 
Katikkiro Mayiga, has served the Kingdom in different capacities having started as the Clerk to the Great Buganda Lukiiko, Minister of state for Youth, Minister for Lukiiko, Information, Official Spokesperson of the Kingdom, and has been the Katikkiro for the last 10 years, a position he still holds.
 
They thanked Mayiga’s parents who educated and trained him to the level when the Kingdom identified him and gave him the opportunity to serve, which he has done meticulously, benefiting both Buganda and Uganda as a whole.
 
They appealed to him to intensify the pursuit for a federal system of governance for the Kingdom, and to bring the youth closer into the Kingdom service, and prepare them for high positions of the Kingdom.
 
In his remarks, The Katikkiro, welcomed them and thanked them supporting and working with him since his appointment the Katikkiro in 2013.
 
He recounted his journey of service with the Kingdom stretching from the late 1980s to date.
 
The Katikkiro appealed to the youth to dedicate to their culture; have humility; and make the most of their youthful stage, to prepare for their old age.
 
He urged them to love the Kabaka, and to remain hopeful at all times.
 
They presented him with gifts and a cut cake with him.
