Buganda Kingdom unveils program for Kabaka’s 30th coronation anniversary celebrations

Ssaabasajja Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II will mark 30 years of his reign as Kabaka of Buganda on Monday 31, July, 2023.   
 
The 31st of July, is a big day on the Kingdom’s calendar and is always celebrated in honor of the rebirth of the Kingdom by Kabaka Mutebi, since 1993.
 
Today, the Chairman of the organizing committee, for Kabaka’s coronation anniversary Oweek. David Mpanga, presented the program for this year’s celebrations to the press.
 
He said the program started last Sunday, when the Katikkiro opened the golf tournament, at the Golf Club, Kittante.
 
Other events on the program will include: the official opening of the Ssentema low-cost housing at Mirembe Villas, by the Kabaka on Friday, July 28.
 
There will be prayers in the different religious sects beginning with Juma prayers in mosques on Friday 28th; the Adventists’ churches on Saturday 29th, while all other churches will hold prayers on Sunday 30th July, 2023.
 
The main event will be on Monday, 31st, at the Mengo Palace, from 8:00am to 8:00 pm.
 
Oweek. Mpanga called upon the people to come in big numbers to celebrate with the King. Those that will not make it to the Lubiri, are advised to follow the ceremonies on all media platforms.
 
The Minister of Lukiiko, Information, Protocol, and Spokesperson of the Kingdom, Oweek. Noah Kiyimba, urged the country’s electricity authority, UMEME, not to load shed on that day, to enable people to follow the celebrations from wherever they will be.
 
He urged everyone who will turn up for the function to respect security directives
