Oweek. Prof. Twaha Kigongo Kaawaase has called upon the Baganda in the diaspora to cherish their culture
This was during his meeting with representatives of clan leaders in the United Kingdom, today, at Bulange.
Oweek. Kaawaase, welcomed them and thanked them for mobilizing Kabaka’s people in the diaspora on behalf of the clan heads.
He urged them to obstinately maintain their culture and traditions, and inculcate it in their children to help them proudly identify with their origin.
He called upon everyone to protect the environment, in order to save our totems that survive on the environment.
He also urged them to actively participate into the Kingdom’s programs; excel in what they do in the diaspora; protect their lives, and to invest in income generating ventures back home.
The Chairman of the Bataka Council, Omutaka Namwama, Augustine Kizito Mutumba, informed them about the strategic plan (Nnamutaayiika) that was designed to guide clans on executing their plans, and urged them to utilize it.
Ssalongo Geoffrey Kibuuka, on behalf of the people living in the United Kingdom, said that they are doing their best to mold their children morally, and culturally, with emphasis on the promotion of Luganda language.
