Ssaabasajja Kabaka opens 31st Buganda Lukiiko session

The ceremony was held today in the Lukiiko hall, and was attended by the Nnaabagereka, Sylvia Nagginda, Princess Royal, Agnes Nabaloga, Princes, Princesses; the Katikkiro; Kabaka’s Minisiters; Clan Leaders; members of the Lukiiko; religious leaders and other dignitaries of the Kingdom.

In his speech, the Kabaka urged his subjects to take up agriculture, despite challenges such as lack market and fluctuating prices of the produce. He called upon the government to focus on agricultural studies and facilitate it right from lower primary, to secondary level, to help the young generation learn, appreciate it and engage in it.

He noted their many rampant cases of land grabbing, yet the process of acquiring justice is too slow. He therefore called upon the courts of law to speed up the hearing of land related cases, to give justice to those who are wrongly evicted from their land.

He urged his officials to serve with dignity, and portray a positive image for serving the Kingdom to inspire the youth into serving their Kingdom.

Katikkiro, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, pledged his allegiance to serve the Kingdom with utmost dedication.

In the same session, Kabaka’s new ministers: Oweek. Israel Kazibwe Kitooke; Oweek. Dr. Anthony Wamala; Oweek. Cotilda Nakate Kikomeko, and Oweek. Robert Ssrwanga, and pledged their allegiance to serve the Kingdom.
