THE RULES, REGULATIONS, TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF KABAKA’S BIRTHDAY RUN 2024
- INTRODUCTION
The Kabaka Birthday Run, (‘’KBR’’) is an annual event organized by the Kingdom of Buganda, held to celebrate the Birthday of the Kabaka (King) Buganda HRH Ssaabasajja Kabaka, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II. The fun run of is flagged off by the Kabaka on the last Sunday preceding his birthday which is on 13th April and it aims at promoting fitness, health, and community engagement. Participants usually gather at Lubiri palace and run through the city, with different distances available for people of all fitness levels. The run is mimicked by Kabaka’s Subjects fans and followers other in other parts of the Country and outside Uganda.
The following the Terms and Conditions bind each race participantin the run at every point of entry. By participating in the event, each participant is deemed to have read and accepted these rules, regulations, terms and conditions.
All participants agree to abide by these rules, regulations, terms and conditions and to comply with all reasonable directions and decisions made by the officials and representatives of the run organizers.
Each participant must agrees to all disclaimers and other terms and conditions, set out herein before participating in the Event.
2.0.The Rules, Regulations, Terms and Conditions
2.1.Entry
2.1.1. Purchasing of the runner kit and turning up to participate in the race represents acceptance of these terms and conditions.
2.1.2. Participants must be capable of completing the race distance chosen. It is their responsibility to undertake the necessary preparation and training required for their race distance. By entering into the KBR 2024, runners agree that on their chosen race day they will be fit and healthy enough to participate in the race unaided. And by participating in the race, every participant must first, seek medical advice, before participating in the race.
2.1.3. Participants take cognizance of the fact that running is a strenuous activity and will result in physical exhaustion. They enter the race at their own risk and shall discharge and keep harmless ,the organisers and sponsors, free from any claim for any injury, illness, loss, or equipment damage incurred as a result of their participation. On the event day, the participants will be responsible for their personal safety health and security of person and property including but not limited to: the running route they choose to run on and its associated risks, their running times, hydration along the running routes.
2.1.4. Participants of 21km, and 10km must be over 18 years of age
2.1.5. Participants under the age of 18 must always be accompanied by a responsible adult who has agreed to be bound by the terms and conditions of the event. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian of the entrant to ensure that participants can complete the distance. The parents or guardians will take full responsibility and liability for the minors participating in the event.
2.1.6. There will be no fee refunded if the event is cancelled for whatever reason. At the total discretion of the organisers all entry fees are non-refundable, non-deferrable and non-transferable, even in the case of an Event cancellation
3.0.Participation
3.1.Participants shall take up the personal responsibility of complying with the guidelines set by authorities in their respective regions for the management of any health-related matters and participate in adherence to them. The KBR 2024 organizing committee shall not be liable waives all liability for any misconduct undertaken by the participants during their participation.
3.2.Participants shall be law abiding at all times during the event and shall take personal responsibilities for any breach of the law.
3.3.The Organisers recommend participants to consider having suitable sports activity insurance cover in place in the event of any illness, accident, injury, or damage caused during the event.
3.4.Participants are advised to run through their chosen routes before the official marathon day to familiarise themselves with the route and any risks associated with it.
3.5.All participants are advised to make necessary personal arrangements for their hydration and recharging during their races.
3.6.It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that he/she carries with him or herself legal identification documents. There will be no liability on the organiser’s part if the information is incorrect or incomplete.
3.7.The Organisers reserve the right to use the participants’ personal data, contact information, motion pictures, recordings or any other records obtained, collected or submitted for the KBR 2024 (“information”) for any legitimate purposes, including commercial advertising, re-marketing, marketing of other Products offered by the organiser and those offered by Sponsors to the KBR 2024. By participating in the Run, the participant unconditionally ceases to own rights to any of the above as listed and implied.
3.8.Participants also consent to allow the Organisers to communicate with them via post, email, text, phone, or other methods before or after the race day.
3.9.The participant agrees to follow any rules or instructions provided to them by the Organisers as may be communicated via the event website, by email or any other means of communication.
3.10. Participants must follow instructions as given from all Event officials including race staff, volunteers, medical personnel, security officers and city officials throughout the duration of the Event.
3.11. All entry fees are non-refundable and may not be deferred toward a future event.
3.12. All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner during their participation in the event.
3.13. No refund will be issued if the event is cancelled due to a designated infectious or communicable disease or a threat or fear thereof.
3.14. All participants are required to use the current year’s official kit provided by the organizers. The use of old or previous year’s kits is strictly prohibited.
3.15. The organizer has no liability for any loss of travel or accommodation costs that the runner may incur.
4.0.Privacy Policy
4.1.All participants, organizers and volunteers agree to respect the Kingdom of Buganda’s and Kingdom Partners’ and Confidentiality privacy policy.
5.0.Amendments / Acknowledgements
5.1.Event officials reserve the right, to modify, supplement or waive all or part of the event rules, regulations or terms and Conditions.
5.2.Participants shall be bound by any modification or supplement to the event rules, regulations terms and conditions published prior to the event.
6.0.Conformity
- It is the responsibility of the competitor to familiarise themselves with the event’s rules, regulations, terms and conditions, the race formats, and any directions as communicated to them in any other form.
